Volunteer at Warped Tour 2010

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

The Dear Jack Foundation and 11:11 A.M. have teamed up to head out on Warped Tour 2010!  We are starting a volunteer program for our tent.  Two (2) individuals per tour date will be chosen to help us out in the tent during the day at Warped Tour.  You are allowed to sign up for a maximum of two dates.  Individuals will be chosen based on their involvement with either the Dear Jack Foundation or 11:11 A.M., or any other organization that helps better the community.

Some duties will include:
Arriving promptly at the venue at least 1 hour before doors open,
Passing out literature,
Selling merchandise,
Taking photos, and
Promoting the organizations to attendees visiting the tent!

Guidelines:
You must be 16 years of age or older on or by the date you sign up for.  Additionally, by signing up for the volunteer program, you agree to assist our tent for a large part of the day.  Should you be chosen to be a volunteer, you will receive a wristband at the venue (this gets you into the event for free).  The volunteer wristband is not to be used to get backstage or side stage access, to cut lines, or to behave in a manner that may reflect poorly on each organization.  Breaking any of these rules will result in your volunteer status being revoked and your wristband being taken away.

If you are interested in helping us out, please send an email to:  1111amvolunteerwarpedtour@gmail.com.

In the subject line, please specify: your full name, tour date, and city of the tour date.

For example:
John Doe, 7/6/10, San Diego

In the body of the email please include the following information:
Name:
Tour Date(s): (limit 2)
City:
Cell Phone:

Please write a few sentences in response to the following questions: How have you been involved with the Dear Jack Foundation or 11:11 A.M. in the past?  Explain.  If you have not been involved with either organization, what volunteer activities have you participated in to help better your community?  Explain.

If you are chosen as a volunteer, we will reply via email with directions to follow for your tour date(s). Volunteer positions are available on a first come, first serve basis and are non-transferable.

Disclaimer:
Neither 11:11 A.M. nor the Dear Jack Foundation is responsible for transportation of volunteers to and from the event.  Volunteers should arrange for their own transportation to and from the venue.  Additionally, volunteers are responsible for their own parking, food, and water.  We reserve the right to cancel the volunteer opportunity at any moment.

3333 Followers Reached!

Photobucket

We reached our 3333 mark for our twitter contest!!! Thank you to everyone for helping out by spreading the word and RT’ing every tweet we sent out.  At first we were hesitant with that number but then realized a goal shouldn’t be easy to reach, it should take work.

We will be making our donation to Light the Night this week and will link everyone to it as soon as it has been made.

This donation means a lot to us because it will be in memory of our friend Matt.  A couple of us will also be walking in memory of him at Light the Night in Washington, DC this Saturday.

Thank you again. This could not have been done without each and every one of you.

Cards for Matt

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Andrew and Matt

Matt is a fellow Jack’s Mannequin fan and a proud 11:11 A.M. supporter. Earlier this year, Matt, who is 23 years old, was diagnosed with lymphoma. This Christmas season, he is going to be in the hospital bravely fighting his cancer and receiving his treatments.

11:11 A.M. wants YOU to show your support for Matt’s fight and spread a little holiday cheer. Send him a holiday card (Matt celebrates Christmas, but you’re free to send any sort of card– even a handmade one!) to:

City of Hope
1500 E. Duarte Road
Duarte, CA 91010
ATTN: Matt Cwiertny – Patient

It is very important to include the “ATTN: Matt Cwiertny – Patient” line, so please double-check when you address your card. He’ll be reading every single one, so be sure to include your favorite JM lyric or reference to 11:11. Let’s spread some holiday cheer and let Matt know that he is not fighting alone!

Fight on,
11:11 A.M.

PS. Send us a photo of you and your card, and we’ll post some of the best ones on our myspace!

$5,000 Donated!

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

We would like to let everyone know that as of yesterday, the 11:11 A.M. Charity has donated another $5,000 dollars in Honor of Brendan May to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. You can track his stories in earlier news posting.

This $5,000 will bring us to $8,000 total for the year! Amazing everyone! It couldn’t have been done without you :)

Also, we need to thank Glamour Kills as well because without the shirt we would not have been able to reach our goal.

Look out for more exciting news coming soon!!!

Rock on,
The 11:11 A.M. Team

Leukemia Survivor Story Continued…

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Hey Everyone,

We thought we would update you on this amazing story. Brendan May, a survivor from cancer, that we have been following met his donor today. I have had the honor of talking to Brendan a lot and got to learn much about him. I was catching up on his Carepage (which I highly recommend checking out if you haven’t yet) and I read the latest update that he was able to meet his donor who saved his life.

The story can be found on:
http://nwherald.com/articles/2008/11/02/announcements/doc490d2aabe03ca670057656.txt

His donor is an all around hero. He just got back from Afghanistan after serving in the Marine Corps.

Also, 11:11 A.M. decided that our next $5,000 donation will be made in honor of Brendan May and his fight against cancer. We will keep everyone updated on when we make this donation.

Additionally, if you haven’t checked our Brendan’s Carepage (sort of like myspace), please do so at: http://www.carepages.com/carepages/brendanmay

Thank you everyone for your ongoing support with 11:11 A.M.!

Rock on,
Adam

A Story About Battling Cancer…

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Hey Everyone,

Two blogs ago I posted about a Leukemia survivor story, which was absolutely amazing. Today I am writing about the same person but introducing a website that he showed me. It is called Care Pages. It keeps people informed about the patients progress, almost like a blog. I have been keeping up with Brendan’s Care Page and his battle is quite the story. I invite everyone to check out his story/progress at:

http://www.carepages.com/carepages/brendanmay

Thank you everyone for your ongoing support with 11:11 A.M.

Rock on,
Adam
