Volunteer at Warped Tour 2010

May 30th, 2010

The Dear Jack Foundation and 11:11 A.M. have teamed up to head out on Warped Tour 2010!  We are starting a volunteer program for our tent.  Two (2) individuals per tour date will be chosen to help us out in the tent during the day at Warped Tour.  You are allowed to sign up for a maximum of two dates.  Individuals will be chosen based on their involvement with either the Dear Jack Foundation or 11:11 A.M., or any other organization that helps better the community.

Some duties will include:
Arriving promptly at the venue at least 1 hour before doors open,
Passing out literature,
Selling merchandise,
Taking photos, and
Promoting the organizations to attendees visiting the tent!

Guidelines:
You must be 16 years of age or older on or by the date you sign up for.  Additionally, by signing up for the volunteer program, you agree to assist our tent for a large part of the day.  Should you be chosen to be a volunteer, you will receive a wristband at the venue (this gets you into the event for free).  The volunteer wristband is not to be used to get backstage or side stage access, to cut lines, or to behave in a manner that may reflect poorly on each organization.  Breaking any of these rules will result in your volunteer status being revoked and your wristband being taken away.

If you are interested in helping us out, please send an email to:  1111amvolunteerwarpedtour@gmail.com.

In the subject line, please specify: your full name, tour date, and city of the tour date.

For example:
John Doe, 7/6/10, San Diego

In the body of the email please include the following information:
Name:
Tour Date(s): (limit 2)
City:
Cell Phone:

Please write a few sentences in response to the following questions: How have you been involved with the Dear Jack Foundation or 11:11 A.M. in the past?  Explain.  If you have not been involved with either organization, what volunteer activities have you participated in to help better your community?  Explain.

If you are chosen as a volunteer, we will reply via email with directions to follow for your tour date(s). Volunteer positions are available on a first come, first serve basis and are non-transferable.

Disclaimer:
Neither 11:11 A.M. nor the Dear Jack Foundation is responsible for transportation of volunteers to and from the event.  Volunteers should arrange for their own transportation to and from the venue.  Additionally, volunteers are responsible for their own parking, food, and water.  We reserve the right to cancel the volunteer opportunity at any moment.

These are the available dates left:

June 30th: Las Cruces, NM
1 spot

August 7th: Salt Lake City, UT
1 spot

August 13th: Nampa, ID
2 spots

See you at Warped Tour 2010!

May 25th, 2010

Dear Jack Foundation and 11:11A.M. will be teaming up this summer on the 2010 Vans Warped Tour. As a part of the non-profit/Take Action area of Warped Tour, the two organizations will unite under one tent to raise awareness for cancer research. All proceeds raised on tour will go towards furthering the mission of Dear Jack Foundation: to improve survival rates of young adult cancer patients.

Warped Tour attendees will find new merchandise from each organization, literature on how and where to volunteer locally, daily raffles and a special opportunity to share their personal stories on how cancer has affected their lives. Dear Jack, the documentary that chronicles Andrew McMahon’s heroic battle with cancer, will also be available for sale.

Volunteer opportunities will be available at each tour date. More information on how to sign up will be announced in the near future. Please follow @1111am and @dearjackhq to stay updated on how to get involved this summer.

Benefit Concert for PCRF

March 25th, 2010

Photobucket

Our good friend Rachel is putting on a benefit show for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, if you are in the area we highly recommend going for an awesome time. We are working on having 11:11 A.M. merch there:

“The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1982 to improve the care, quality of life and survival rate of children with malignant diseases. Since its inception, PCRF has raised over $22 million to fund cutting edge research that leads to medically sound treatment protocols for childhood cancers. Much progress has been made, For instance, childhood leukemia, once almost certainly fatal, now has a 70% survival rate. But the battle is far from over – cancer continues to afflict more children under 18 years of age each year than any other disease.”

Photography Contest Winners!

March 15th, 2010

1ST PLACE

By: Ning (From Irvine, California)

“Ever since I was little, I’ve wished on dandelions. To me, they will always be more than just a weed. They’re delicate and simple, yet completely unique and complex. They can add that tiny bit of extra happiness and hope into my day anyday. And just about everybody is guilty of wishing on one at least once in their lifetime! :)
(This picture is actually a necklace I made for a friend, as a little uplifting, whimsical present. I told her that I captured a little dandelion seed just for her and so now it has to grant her one wish!)”

————————————————

We just wanted to thank everyone SO MUCH for entering the contest. It was really a success! All of the photos and their descriptions were all original and unique, and we loved seeing what everyone’s portrayal of “Wish” was. The winners were chosen because of 1) The quality and thought put into their photo 2) How much it related to our theme and 3) How their description related to their photo to make it special.

Check out the rest of the winners here and all of the submitted photos here!

Thanks for your support,
